Abia Saw Light in 2023, Will Not Return to Egypt – Dr. Monday Ubani, SAN

Prominent constitutional lawyer and Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Dr. Monday O. Ubani, SAN, has declared that Abia State “saw the light in 2023” with the election of Governor Alex Chioma Otti, insisting that the state is not prepared to “return to Egypt” after witnessing purposeful and people-centered governance.

In a strongly worded endorsement, Dr. Ubani described Governor Otti’s emergence in 2023 as one of the greatest blessings to Abia State and Nigeria at large, noting that within a remarkably short period, the Governor has demonstrated uncommon capacity, integrity, transparency, competence, and compassion in leadership.

According to him, Governor Otti’s administration has delivered measurable and visible impact across virtually all critical sectors of the state, including urban renewal, aviation development, energy reforms, infrastructure rehabilitation, workers’ welfare, prompt payment of salaries, healthcare delivery, education, security, waste management, hospitality, and massive road construction.

Dr. Ubani further highlighted the Governor’s bold decision to take over and complete long-abandoned federal projects, describing it as a testament to decisive leadership and genuine commitment to development.

“Objectively speaking, Governor Alex Otti has not been found wanting in any area of governance,” the senior lawyer stated.

He emphasized that the people of Abia have transcended political party affiliations and are now driven solely by performance and results, stressing that Abians are united across party lines—PDP, APC, Labour Party, APGA, ADC, and others—in their resolve to return Governor Otti for a second term in 2027.

“Whatever political platform Dr. Alex Otti chooses, the people will embrace it,” Dr. Ubani asserted, adding that those nursing contrary ambitions represent only a marginal minority.

He concluded with a faith-based affirmation, expressing confidence that Governor Otti will be re-elected in 2027 to complete his constitutionally guaranteed eight-year tenure.
