Aare Muyiwa Akinboro, SAN Joins Legal Luminaries at 2025 NBA Owerri Law Week as Discussant

The 2025 Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) Owerri Branch Law Week continues today with rich and robust discussions on key issues shaping the legal profession and its impact on national development.

Among the distinguished discussants contributing to this year’s intellectual discourse is renowned legal practitioner and Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Aare Olumuyiwa Akinboro, SAN, FCIArb (UK), FCIMC, Life Bencher.

Aare Akinboro, a Past General Secretary of the NBA National  and a distinguished advocate for access to justice and young lawyers’ development, will play a prominent role during the Afternoon Session, as a Discussant in a high-level panel analyzing the topic:
“The Role of the Judiciary in Promoting Economic Growth in Nigeria.”

The session, chaired by the Hon. Justice P. C. Onumajulu (Chief Judge of Imo State, Rtd.), will feature a lead lecture by Hon. Justice Peter Obiorah and a panel of esteemed discussants, including:

Today’s session is part of a broader schedule of events at the 2025 Law Week, themed:
“Reshaping Legal Practice and Justice Delivery: Charting the Future of the Profession in Nigeria.”

The day began with a formal Opening Ceremony chaired by Hon. Justice Chioma Nwosu-Iheme, Ph.D, JSC, and featured a keynote address by Prof. Chidi Odinkalu, as well as addresses by the NBA President, the Governor of Imo State, and the Imo State Attorney General. The event also saw the unveiling of the Orient Journal.

The Law Week, holding at Villa Garden Hotel and Suites, New Owerri, has drawn participation from senior lawyers, judges, academics, and law students, fostering dialogue on how to strategically position the legal profession for national relevance and sustainable impact.
