Trump Claims "Big Threats" on His Life from Iran Amid Assassination Warnings

Donald Trump announced on Wednesday that he is facing “big threats” to his life from Iran, following warnings from U.S. intelligence regarding “real and specific” threats against the former president.

The statements were made via Trump’s Truth Social platform, where he expressed that the U.S. military is closely monitoring the situation.

“Big threats on my life by Iran. The entire U.S. military is watching and waiting,” Trump wrote. He added that Iran had made previous moves that “didn’t work out,” but he expects they will make further attempts.

He also mentioned feeling more secure, stating, “I am surrounded by more men, guns, and weapons than I have ever seen before.” This follows increased scrutiny of the U.S. Secret Service after two attempts on Trump’s life earlier this year.

Trump’s campaign team confirmed in a statement on Tuesday that he had been briefed about these threats by the Office of the Director of National Intelligence. Campaign communications director Steven Cheung noted, “President Trump was briefed earlier today regarding real and specific threats from Iran to assassinate him to destabilise and sow chaos in the United States.”

Cheung also mentioned that intelligence officials have observed an increase in these coordinated threats in recent months. Law enforcement agencies are working diligently to ensure Trump’s protection and maintain the integrity of the upcoming election.

While the campaign did not specify whether these threats were new or related to previously reported incidents, they come at a time when global leaders are attempting to prevent escalations between Iran-backed Hezbollah and Israel that could lead to a broader regional conflict.

In response to allegations of plotting against Trump, Iran has denied any involvement. After a gunman opened fire at a Trump rally in Pennsylvania earlier this year, resulting in one death and injuries to Trump, U.S. media reported that authorities had received intelligence regarding an alleged Iranian assassination plot. Iran dismissed these allegations as “malicious.”

In previous statements, Trump has made strong remarks regarding potential retaliatory measures against Iran, stating, “If they do ‘assassinate President Trump,’ which is always a possibility, I hope that America obliterates Iran, wipes it off the face of the Earth — If that does not happen, American Leaders will be considered ‘gutless’ cowards!”

Iranian Cyberattacks and Election Interference

In addition to the assassination threats, U.S. intelligence agencies have accused Iran of conducting cyberattacks aimed at Trump’s campaign. A joint statement from the U.S. Office of the Director of National Intelligence, the FBI, and the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency indicated that Iranian hackers had attempted to share “stolen, non-public” information from Trump’s campaign with the Biden campaign.

The statement pointed to increased foreign influence in the upcoming U.S. elections, highlighting efforts by Russia, Iran, and China to exploit divisions within American society. It also reported that Iranian cyberattackers attempted to share this stolen material with U.S. media organizations, although specific outlets were not named.

Iran has categorically denied these allegations as well. The Trump campaign’s presidential rival, Democrat Kamala Harris, also reported being targeted by foreign hackers but did not specify which country was responsible for the attack.

With Election Day set for November 5, recent polls indicate that Trump and Harris are neck and neck in the race.
