Residents of Awka have been thrown into mourning following the fatal shooting of popular mobile advertiser and entertainer Isaac Nwosu, widely known as Aiza, alongside another yet-to-be-identified man.
Tension has gripped Awka, the Anambra State capital, following the killing of popular media personality and mobile advertiser, Isaac Nwosu, popularly known as Aiza, and another unidentified man.
The victims were attacked at separate locations within the city on Sunday, August 30, 2026. Their bodies were subsequently recovered along Capital City Road, Amaenyi, and S.M. Okeke Street, Amaikwo, Awka.
Nwosu was reportedly found with multiple gunshot wounds inside his Toyota Hilux vehicle, while the second victim sustained a gunshot wound to the head. The motive behind the attacks has not yet been established.
Popularly known within Anambra’s entertainment and events industry, Nwosu worked as a master of ceremonies, disc jockey and occasional radio presenter. He was particularly recognised for providing mobile advertising and public-address services with his specially equipped vehicle.
Confirming the incident on Monday, the Anambra State Police Command said preliminary investigations indicated that three unidentified men travelling in a silver-coloured Toyota Corolla were responsible for the shootings.
The registration number of the vehicle had not been determined as of the time of the police statement. Operatives were immediately deployed to the affected locations after the command received distress information.
The victims were taken to a hospital, where they were confirmed dead by medical personnel. Police identified one of them as Isaac Nwosu, also known as Aiza, while efforts were ongoing to establish the identity of the second victim.
Items recovered from the scenes included ₦7,550, a Moniepoint ATM card and a pair of slippers.
The Commissioner of Police in Anambra State, CP Nnanna Oji Ama, condemned the killings, describing them as unacceptable and a threat to the peace and security of the state.
He directed that the case be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Awka for a comprehensive investigation.
The command has also intensified patrols, surveillance and intelligence-gathering operations across Awka and neighbouring communities as the manhunt for the attackers continues.
Residents, motorists, business owners and community leaders with credible information about the assailants or the vehicle used in the attacks have been urged to contact the police.
The command assured members of the public that all information provided would be treated with strict confidentiality.
