Candidate for the office of General Secretary of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) and former Chairman of the NBA Abuja Branch, Afam O. Okeke, Esq., has extended his goodwill to the leadership and members of the Muslim Lawyers’ Association of Nigeria (MULAN) as they gather in Kano for the 2026 Annual General Conference.
In his goodwill message, Okeke described the conference theme, “National Halal Strategy: A Vehicle for Economic Advancement and Sustainable Development in Nigeria,” as both innovative and timely, noting that it reflects the growing significance of ethical, value-driven economic frameworks in driving national prosperity.
According to him, Nigeria’s quest for sustainable economic development requires the exploration of diverse and inclusive growth models capable of stimulating investment, expanding employment opportunities, promoting financial inclusion, and strengthening key sectors of the economy.
He observed that discussions on the Halal economy and its immense potential in trade, agriculture, finance, tourism, and entrepreneurship have become increasingly relevant as the nation seeks practical solutions to its economic challenges.

Okeke further stated that the conference provides an invaluable platform for legal practitioners, policymakers, scholars, and industry stakeholders to critically examine the legal, regulatory, and economic dimensions of the emerging Halal industry while fostering meaningful collaboration towards national development.
He commended the leadership of MULAN for consistently creating opportunities for intellectual engagement, professional development, and constructive dialogue on issues that shape the future of the legal profession and the nation.
Expressing confidence in the outcome of the conference, Okeke said the deliberations would generate practical recommendations capable of advancing economic growth, social development, and national prosperity.
“I extend my warm goodwill and best wishes to the leadership and entire membership of the Muslim Lawyers’ Association of Nigeria on the occasion of the MULAN Annual General Conference, Kano 2026.
I am confident that the deliberations at this conference will produce valuable insights that will contribute meaningfully to Nigeria’s economic advancement and sustainable development. I wish all participants fruitful deliberations and a successful, impactful, and memorable conference,” he said.
