In today’s digital age, the concept of privacy has expanded beyond the traditional protection of homes and correspondence to include the vast range of personal data that is stored, processed, and transmitted electronically.
The rapid growth of big data, artificial intelligence, financial technology (FinTech), and social media platforms has transformed personal information into one of the most valuable resources in the modern digital economy.
Consequently, the protection of digital privacy has become an increasingly important legal concern, intersecting issues of human rights, national security, and economic regulation.
This article examines the legal and regulatory framework governing digital privacy in Nigeria, particularly the impact of the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023 in strengthening data protection rights.

It further explores the role of cybersecurity in safeguarding personal data, highlights the emerging challenges affecting the effective protection of digital privacy, and considers the role of the judiciary in shaping the enforcement and development of data protection law in Nigeria.
