The Muslim Lawyers’ Association of Nigeria (MULAN), Lagos Branch, on Saturday, 20th September 2025, hosted its New Legal Year 2025 Reception and Lecture at the Secretariat Mosque Hall Complex, Alausa, Ikeja, Lagos. The event brought together judges, lawyers, and legal stakeholders to reflect on the spiritual and ethical dimensions of legal practice.
With the theme “Spirituality: The Life Jacket for Judges and Lawyers,” the lecture underscored the need for moral grounding in the pursuit of justice. The Chairman of the occasion, Prof. Yusuf Olaolu Alli, SAN, and the Guest Lecturer, Hon. Dr. Abdulhakeem Abdullateef, led a purposeful dialogue on how faith and integrity can serve as anchors for legal practitioners navigating the demands of modern society.
In a goodwill message, Barth Okoye Aniche, Immediate Past Publicity Secretary of the Eastern Bar Forum, hailed the initiative as both “profound and timely.” He noted that “the storms of compromise cannot easily sway a mind anchored in faith,” urging legal professionals to seek a higher moral grounding where conscience and character outweigh ambition. He further observed that “the robe of a judge and the gown of a lawyer are at their best when worn over a soul clothed in integrity.”
Aniche congratulated the leadership of MULAN Lagos Branch for championing such a visionary conversation and prayed that the New Legal Year would bring “renewed strength, wisdom, and divine guidance to every member.”
Signed
Barth Okoye Aniche
Immediate Past Publicity Secretary, Eastern Bar Forum
