The Emerging Practice Area Committee of the Nigeria Bar Association (NBA) Young Lawyers Forum, in partnership with the Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC) and Data Privacy Lawyers Association of Nigeria (DPLAN), recently hosted a highly successful hybrid training program on July 19th, 2025.
With over 2,000 registered attendees from Nigeria, Ghana, Cameroon, and other African countries joining virtually, the training showcased the growing interest in dataprotection across the continent.
The hybrid format allowed for a wide reach, enabling participants to engage with experts and peers from various jurisdictions.
The training featured comprehensive discussions on key topics, including:
- Privacy Awareness
- Becoming a Data Protection Officer
- Data Subjects’ Rights
- Future Directions in Data Privacy.
Resource persons from the NDPC provided valuable insights into the commission’s initiatives and activities in promoting data protection in Nigeria, highlighting the importance of collaboration between lawyers, policymakers, and industry stakeholders.
These discussions offered a comprehensive overview of the current state of data protection and identified areas for further development and exploration.
