The Rivers State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of one Mr. Elijah, the General Overseer of a new-generation church in Port Harcourt, following allegations of homosexuality sparked by a leaked video showing the cleric in a compromising situation.

According to reports, the scandal erupted when a male acquaintance — whom the pastor had allegedly approached with romantic advances — covertly recorded their conversation and later leaked the footage to the public. The video, which quickly circulated on social media, attracted the attention of the Octopus Strike Force, a specialized unit of the Rivers State Police Command.

A source familiar with the case disclosed that officers acted swiftly on credible intelligence. “We don’t know how the Strike Force got the video, but after reviewing it, they began tracking the pastor. Eventually, they trailed him to one of his known hangouts and arrested him,” the source revealed.

During police interrogation, Mr. Elijah reportedly confessed to having engaged in similar acts with both adults and minors within Port Harcourt and beyond. The disturbing confession has deepened public outrage and intensified calls for thorough prosecution.

He is in custody, and investigations are ongoing. In fact, he has already been charged to court,” she said.

The case continues to draw significant attention both within religious and human rights circles, as the investigation progresses.
