A tragic incident unfolded in Pickering, Ontario, where a 64-year-old woman succumbed to life-threatening injuries caused by an assault, leading to a murder charge against her son.
Durham Regional Police reported that on Sunday, at approximately 5:10 a.m., officers were dispatched to Weyburn Square, near Sheppard Avenue and Whites Road, after receiving reports of a collision. Upon arriving, police found the victim, Sheila Hercules, severely injured.
She was rushed to a Toronto-area trauma center, but despite efforts to save her, she later died. Investigators determined that her injuries were not the result of the reported collision but instead caused by an assault.
The victim’s son, 25-year-old Aidan Hercules, was arrested at the scene of the crash. He now faces a second-degree murder charge in connection with his mother’s death.
Authorities have confirmed that no other suspects are being sought and that there is no threat to public safety.
