YAWC 2024: Ghana’s EOCO Boss, Maame Yaa Tiwaa Addo-Danquah, Confirms Attendance

Mrs. Maame Yaa Tiwaa Addo-Danquah, the Executive Director of Ghana’s Economic and Organized Crime Office (EOCO), has confirmed her attendance at the Young African Women’s Congress (YAWC) 2024 Annual Global Convocation.

YAWC 2024 is scheduled to take place in Abuja, Nigeria, from October 27 to 31, with over 1,500 young women from across Africa and the diaspora expected to attend.

Mrs. Addo-Danquah will speak at the event, bringing her wealth of leadership experience, particularly in law enforcement, financial crime detection, and investigation.

The theme for this year’s edition is “Enhancing Women’s Economic Empowerment through Innovation and Technology.” YAWC aims to mobilize women at the grassroots level for leadership and development through advocacy, training, and projects.

Profile: Mrs. Maame Yaa Tiwaa Addo-Danquah

Mrs. Addo-Danquah is a Commissioner of Police (COP) in Ghana, with over 30 years of service, specializing in financial crime detection and investigation. She holds a Master of Business Administration (Finance) from the University of Cape Coast and is a Chartered Accountant and Forensic Accountant.

Throughout her career, she has held key positions in the Ghana Police Service, including the Director-General of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), becoming the first woman to hold that position.

She has also served as the first Commandant of the Ghana Police Command and Staff College, Director of CID Training, and Head of Finance at Police Headquarters.

Internationally, Mrs. Addo-Danquah served in the United Nations Peacekeeping Mission in Kosovo (UNMIK) and holds fellowships and certifications from global institutions such as the Association of Certified Chartered Accountants (FCCA), the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (ACFE), and the Institute of Chartered Accountants, Ghana (FCA).

Currently, she is a guest lecturer at institutions including GIMPA Business School, the University of Cape Coast, and the Institute of Chartered Accountants Ghana. She also serves as President of the Ghana Police Ladies Association and former President of the Association of Women Accountants, Ghana.
