Two persons have been arraigned before an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court over an alleged ₦139 million visa-processing fraud.
The defendants, Nze Chiamaka Obaze, 28, and Victor Ozowe, 49, appeared before Magistrate O. Kasunu on charges relating to conspiracy, obtaining money under false pretence and conduct likely to cause a breach of the peace.
According to the prosecution, the defendants and others said to be at large allegedly obtained ₦60 million from Ebenezer Bamilosin and ₦79 million from Chidinma Ugwoji under representations that visa packages would be secured for candidates.
Police said the alleged offences arose in February 2026 in the Mafoluku-Oshodi area of Lagos.
The prosecution cited provisions of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, including sections relating to conspiracy and obtaining property by false pretence.
The court granted the defendants bail subject to sureties and other conditions but ordered their remand at the Kirikiri Correctional Centre pending fulfilment of those conditions.
The defendants have not been convicted of any offence and remain presumed innocent.
The case also highlights the legal exposure surrounding migration and visa services, particularly where substantial payments are collected from customers on representations that overseas documentation or placement will be secured.
