The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has suspended the enforcement of the vehicle tinted glass permit policy, following a recent court order temporarily halting the exercise.
This was made known by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, during an interview on the African Independent Television (AIT) on Wednesday.
She confirmed that the police had officially received the court order and would fully comply with its directive pending the determination of the substantive case.
“Information from the PRO’s office indicates that the court order has been received, and enforcement of the tinted glass permit is now suspended until the court gives its verdict,” Adeh stated.

She clarified that the decision to suspend enforcement was in line with the Nigeria Police Force’s commitment to upholding the rule of law and maintaining a harmonious relationship with the judiciary.
“We are not in conflict with the judiciary. We’ll wait patiently for the court’s ruling,” she added.
Adeh further explained that the tinted glass regulation was introduced purely as a security measure, not as a punitive policy.
According to her, criminals had in the past exploited vehicles with heavily tinted windows to evade identification and perpetrate crimes.
“The law wasn’t made by us; we only enforce it. The policy was designed to enhance security because some offenders used tinted vehicles to carry out crimes,” the police spokesperson noted.

While enforcement remains suspended, Adeh assured residents that the police would continue to prioritize public safety and compliance with lawful directives.
