Yenagoa — A female National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) member has been raped by a gang of armed robbers during a house-to-house attack in Yenizue Gene, a suburb of Yenagoa, Bayelsa State.
The incident occurred around 3 a.m. on Sunday when three armed men stormed the area, firing gunshots to scare residents and members of a local vigilance group armed only with sticks and cutlasses.
Police spokesperson Asinim Butswat confirmed the attack, saying the corps member, who was robbed of her phones, cash, and other valuables, later reported the assault to the police.
“She narrated how the hoodlums took turns on her and also gave useful statements on their identities,” Butswat said, adding that a manhunt has been launched for the suspects.
