Terrorist Kingpin Bello Turji Spotted With Militants in North-West

Makama shared the information via his X handle, stating:
“Bello Turji has been spotted with his militant gangs in the rocks of Fakai and Manawa in the North West.”

Escalating Security Concerns

This revelation follows intensified efforts by Nigerian security forces to track down Turji, who has been implicated in numerous acts of violence, including kidnappings, armed robbery, and mass killings across Nigeria’s northwestern states.

Recent Developments in the Region

The sighting of Turji coincides with the recent death of another notorious bandit leader, Kachalla Dogo Isah. Isah was killed on January 7, 2025, during a confrontation in Kachia Forest, Kaduna State.

The violent encounter erupted when Isah’s gang attempted to raid a cattle camp managed by Kachalla Musa, a former bandit leader who had accepted a government peace initiative. The raid escalated into a deadly gunfight, resulting in the deaths of Isah and two of his associates.

Makama confirmed these details, emphasizing that the clash was triggered by Isah’s group’s attempt to steal livestock from the peaceful camp.

Government’s Response

In light of Turji’s resurgence, the Minister of Defence has ordered the Chief of Defence Staff and other top military officials to relocate to Sokoto to coordinate efforts against Turji and his gang. This move is part of a broader strategy to curb banditry and terrorism in the region.

Call for Action

Security experts have urged the Nigerian government to intensify counterterrorism measures, including surveillance, intelligence gathering, and swift military action, to apprehend Turji and dismantle his network of militants.
