In a bold step to further entrench transparency, accountability, and ethical legal practice within the Bar, the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) Sokoto Branch—also known as the Caliphate Bar—has formally constituted its Anti-Corruption Committee in alignment with the resolution of the NBA National Executive Committee (NEC) passed during its meeting held in Ilorin on 15th May 2025.

The committee was officially inaugurated at the Branch’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) on 5th July 2025, marking a strategic move to domesticate the anti-corruption mandate within the operations of the Branch.

The establishment of the committee demonstrates the Sokoto Branch’s commitment to upholding the integrity of the legal profession and supporting the NBA’s broader efforts to combat corruption within and outside the legal community.

The committee is also expected to liaise actively with the NBA National Anti-Corruption Committee, thereby ensuring that both local and national frameworks are aligned in purpose and action.
