In a heartfelt message of support, Mrs. Oyinkansola Badejo-Okusanya (Mrs. B) applauds the Nigerian Bar Association, Ondo Branch, for hosting its 2025 Law Week with the thought-provoking theme, “Dying Embers of Professional Ethics: Blunted Sword of the Gatekeepers.”
She describes the theme as timely and deeply reflective—capturing the urgent need for legal practitioners to reawaken the values of integrity, discipline, and accountability that form the bedrock of the profession.
According to her, without strong ethical standards, the “sword” of the legal gatekeepers grows blunt, weakening the defence of justice and eroding public trust in the Bar.
Mrs. B commends the leadership of the Ondo Branch for fostering dialogue that challenges lawyers to confront uncomfortable truths, embrace self-regulation, and recommit to the noble ideals of the profession.

She believes such engagements are essential to restoring the dignity of the legal profession and inspiring a new era of ethical excellence.
She encourages participants to take the conversations beyond the conference halls—translating words into sustained action that will sharpen the sword of justice and rekindle the flame of professional ethics for generations to come.
