Abuja, Nigeria – Professor Foluke Dada-Lawanson, Chair of the Lawyers in Academia Forum and former 2nd Vice President of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), has extended a warm goodwill message to the NBA Abuja Branch on the occasion of its 2025 Law Week, lauding its choice of theme and commitment to innovation.
Speaking on the theme “Unlocking Opportunities: New Frontiers”, Prof. Dada-Lawanson described it as both timely and forward-looking, reflecting the rapidly evolving nature of the legal profession. She noted that the modern legal landscape demands adaptability, strategic thinking, and a proactive approach to emerging areas of practice.
“In an increasingly complex world, new legal challenges and fields are emerging with remarkable speed. “This theme challenges us to look beyond traditional boundaries—to embrace innovation and courageously explore the uncharted territories within the legal landscape,” she stated.
She emphasised the need for practitioners to engage meaningfully with opportunities in technology, emerging industries, international law, and other novel areas of public interest. According to her, the ability of lawyers to identify and lead within these frontiers will define the long-term relevance and success of the Bar.
Prof. Dada-Lawanson commended the Abuja Branch for fostering a platform that not only inspires strategic exploration but also equips members with the insights and tools necessary to thrive in a dynamic legal environment.

“I am confident that the insights gained from this programme will empower legal professionals to not only unlock new opportunities for themselves but also contribute meaningfully to the development of Nigeria’s legal framework,” she concluded.
