In a heartfelt and symbolic full-circle moment, Prof. Foluke Dada-Lawanson, Chair of the Lawyers in Academia Forum and former 2nd Vice President of the Nigerian Bar Association (2018–2020), was honoured by the NBA Young Lawyers Forum (NBA-YLF) during its mentorship session held on July 11, 2025.
Themed “Intergenerational Dialogue: Lessons and Triumphs for New Wigs,” the session provided an avenue for seasoned legal professionals to engage with the newest members of the Bar, sharing insights from their personal and professional journeys.
Prof. Dada-Lawanson, speaking with deep reflection and sincerity, emphasized that mentorship is not merely about giving advice, but about building lasting bridges of knowledge, connection, and legacy.
“Standing before our newest colleagues at the Bar reminded me that mentorship is about reflection, connection, and building a bridge between generations of wisdom,” she noted.
To the newly admitted lawyers, she offered powerful words of encouragement: “Walk with courage. Lead with integrity. And never forget that excellence is not an act, but a habit.”

The NBA-YLF also presented her with an award in recognition of her dedication to mentoring the next generation of legal minds.
In her acceptance, she expressed profound gratitude and a renewed commitment to continue lighting the path for those coming behind her.
The session reaffirmed the NBA-YLF’s mission to foster professional growth through meaningful intergenerational engagement.
We rise, together.
