Lagos, Nigeria – July 1, 2025 — Following the successful conduct of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) Lagos Branch elections, legal professionals across the country are extending their congratulations to the newly elected executive committee of the Premier Bar.
Among them is Professor Foluke Dada-Lawanson, Chair of the Lawyers in Academia Forum and former NBA 2nd Vice President (2018–2020), who issued a heartfelt congratulatory message to the new leadership team.
In a powerful statement, Prof. Dada-Lawanson lauded the historic emergence of Mrs. Uchenna Akingbade as the first female Chairman of the NBA Lagos Branch, describing her victory as “nothing short of historic.”
“Your courage to step forward and the resounding support you received signal a powerful shift in our collective journey towards greater inclusion, equity, and progress,” she wrote.

She also extended commendations to the entire executive team, acknowledging their emergence as a reflection of the trust and confidence reposed in them by members of the Bar.
“Your victory is a testament to the faith and trust the Bar has placed in your ability to lead with purpose. As you begin this new chapter, may your service reflect the highest values of integrity, professionalism, and unity,” she said.
The statement concluded with a rousing affirmation of the power of collective leadership and the possibilities ahead for the legal profession in Nigeria.
“Together, you represent the strength of collective leadership and the hope for a more inclusive and impactful Bar. I celebrate this moment with pride, not just as a woman in the legal profession, but as a believer in what is possible when we dare to show up for change,” she declared.
Prof. Dada-Lawanson expressed optimism that the new leadership will deliver a tenure defined by purpose, service, and legacy.
