Pregnant Wife Cries Out Over Missing Husband and Son’s Death

Mrs. Jennifer Johnson, a pregnant housewife from the Obolo area of Mbano in Owerri, Imo State, has made a desperate plea for justice and help following the disappearance of her husband, Bright Johnson, and the alleged killing of their five-year-old son by armed men on December 26, 2024.

The incident, which occurred during a reported invasion led by the youth president of the community, Amaze Chibuke, has left the family in distress and seeking answers.

Allegations of Abduction and Extrajudicial Killing

Jennifer Johnson recounted that her husband, a 33-year-old native doctor, was taken from their home in the company of a commercial motorcyclist who had brought a patient for herbal treatment. The armed group, allegedly including personnel from the Department of State Services (DSS), also shot and killed their young son during the operation.

According to Jennifer, a released motorcyclist who was detained alongside her husband confirmed that Bright Johnson is being held in a secret DSS cell in Owerri. Despite repeated attempts by her father-in-law to locate him, DSS officials reportedly redirected him to various offices without providing access to Bright.

“My father-in-law has gone to the DSS office, but they did not allow him to see his son. They told him to get a letter from Mbano headquarters, but when he got there, he was told the commander was in Abuja,” Jennifer said.

Claims of Land Dispute Escalation

The family believes the incident stems from a land dispute between Bright Johnson and the community youth president, Amaze Chibuke. Jennifer disclosed that her husband had filed a legal case against Chibuke before the attack occurred.

She alleged that Chibuke and unidentified armed men invaded their home with pump-action guns, injuring Bright and his younger brother, Okechukwu Johnson, while fatally shooting their son.

“My husband was shot in the leg and taken to an undisclosed location. His younger brother was shot in the back, and my five-year-old son was killed,” Jennifer narrated.

She accused Chibuke of orchestrating the arrest and shooting to intimidate her husband over the ongoing land dispute.

Justice and Plea for Intervention

Jennifer Johnson has called on the Director-General of the DSS and the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, to intervene in the matter. She expressed concern over the inability to confirm her husband’s condition or whereabouts and appealed to Nigerians for support in seeking justice.

“They’re trying to frame my husband to justify the killing of our son. If nothing is fishy, why did Chibuke involve the DSS when the case was already with the police?”

Despite reaching out to law enforcement, Jennifer lamented the financial burden of mobilizing the police and the lack of progress in apprehending those responsible.

Youth President’s Silence

When contacted for his response to the allegations, Amaze Chibuke declined to comment.

The Johnson family continues to seek answers and justice for the tragic events that have torn their lives apart.
