NBAWF FCT Abuja Chapter to Host First Biannual General Meeting on Professional Discipline and Inclusivity

The Nigerian Bar Association Women Forum (NBAWF), FCT Abuja Chapter, has announced its First Biannual General Meeting, scheduled to hold on January 30, 2026, in Abuja.

The meeting will be convened under the theme “Raising the Bar: Professional Discipline, Pathway to Inclusivity – Lessons from 2025, Strategies for 2026.” It is designed to bring together female legal practitioners across the Federal Capital Territory for structured reflection, professional engagement, and forward-looking dialogue on ethical standards and inclusive growth within the legal profession.

According to the organisers, the meeting seeks to reinforce ethical consciousness and professional discipline among female lawyers, while also creating a strategic platform for peer engagement, mentorship, and experience sharing. Participants are expected to deliberate on practical approaches for strengthening inclusivity and advancing professional development in the year ahead.

Key discussions at the meeting will address issues central to contemporary legal practice, including professional ethics, work-life balance, women’s leadership in the legal sector, and the prevention and response to gender-based violence within the profession.

The expected outcomes of the meeting include an improved understanding of professional discipline and ethical obligations, enhanced collaboration and networking among female lawyers in the FCT, and the development of a clear and actionable framework for inclusivity and professional advancement in 2026.

The programme will feature a keynote address by Hon. Justice M. A. Nasir, alongside contributions from senior members of the Bar, including Nella Nandem-Ewa, SAN; Dr Paulyn Abhulimen-Okpalefe, SAN; and Wendy Kuku, SAN.

The NBAWF FCT Abuja Chapter described the forthcoming meeting as a significant professional engagement that will provide valuable opportunities for capacity building, leadership development, and strategic alignment among female lawyers in the Federal Capital Territory.
