The Nigerian Bar Association Women Forum (NBAWF), Sokoto Chapter, recently held a highly impactful Fireside Chat featuring Barr. Saadatu Yunusa Muhammad, Honourable Special Adviser to the Sokoto State Government on Poverty Reduction.
The event was themed “An Insight into Women in Politics: A Lawyer’s Experience,” and provided a vibrant platform for female legal professionals to engage in deep, purposeful dialogue.
The session shed light on the intersection of law and politics, especially from the perspective of women navigating these demanding spheres.
Barr. Saadatu, drawing from her personal journey, shared candid insights into the realities of political participation as a woman and a lawyer, the challenges she has encountered, and the resilience required to thrive.

Discussions delved into critical issues affecting female lawyers such as political engagement, the need for safe and enabling workspaces, and actionable strategies to empower and elevate women in the legal profession.
Participants also explored the importance of mentorship, representation, and policy reform in fostering gender inclusion and equity.
