The Nigerian Bar Association Women Forum (NBAWF) joins the global community in commemorating the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence, an annual campaign dedicated to raising awareness and inspiring action to end violence against women and girls worldwide.
From November 25th, the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, to December 10th, Human Rights Day, this period highlights the urgent need to address the widespread issue of gender-based violence, which endangers lives, hinders progress, and perpetuates inequality.
NBA Women Forum – Empowering Female Lawyers for Success
As advocates for justice, equity, and the rule of law, the NBAWF stands unwavering in its commitment to combating all forms of violence and discrimination against women and girls. We acknowledge the critical role the legal profession plays in safeguarding rights, enforcing protections, and ensuring accountability for perpetrators.
This Year’s Call to Action
The NBAWF urges all members of the legal community to:
- Advocate for the effective implementation and enforcement of laws that protect women and girls from violence.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to provide survivors with access to justice, medical care, counseling, and other essential support.
- Educate and raise awareness to challenge harmful societal norms and prevent violence.
We reaffirm our dedication to empowering women, amplifying their voices, and fostering a society where safety and equality prevail. Let us use these 16 days and beyond to drive meaningful action and sustainable change.
Ending gender-based violence is not just a goal—it is a shared responsibility we must uphold together.
Together, we can make a difference.
