The Nigerian Bar Association Women Forum (NBAWF) has called for an immediate and transparent investigation into the death of late Temitope Odu, Esq., a Lagos-based lawyer allegedly strangled by her husband.
In a statement signed by its Chairperson, Huwaila Ibrahim Muhammad, the Forum expressed deep shock over the incident and condemned the reported release of the suspect despite the seriousness of the allegations and widespread public concern.
The NBAWF urged the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, to order the re-arrest of the suspect and ensure a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding Odu’s death.
It also appealed for a suspension of her burial until all relevant forensic examinations are completed to preserve the integrity of the investigation.

Reaffirming its zero-tolerance stance toward gender-based violence, the Forum emphasized that justice must be pursued without compromise.
“Violence against women must never be tolerated, and those responsible must be held to the fullest extent of the law,” the statement concluded.
