The Nigerian Bar Association Women Forum (NBAWF) has expressed deep sorrow and outrage over the brutal killing of Princess Meadrixt Chigbo, describing her death as a senseless act of violence and a painful reminder of the growing insecurity faced by women, particularly in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

In a condolence statement issued on behalf of the Forum, the NBAWF said it was “utterly heartbroken and shocked” by the tragic loss of Princess, whom it described as a bundle of talent and a shining light whose life was cut short far too soon.

The Forum extended its deepest sympathies to the family, friends, and loved ones of the deceased, assuring them of the collective support and prayers of the NBA, NBA Women Forum (NBAWF), Federation of International Women Lawyers (FIDA), African Women Lawyers Association (AWLA), and the entire FCT legal community.

“This cowardly act of murder is an attack on us all,” the statement read, condemning the killing in the strongest possible terms.

The Forum noted with concern that women constitute an overwhelming percentage of victims of alleged ‘One Chance’ operators in the FCT, describing the situation as “crude, wicked, and unacceptable.”

The NBAWF called on law enforcement agencies and relevant authorities to deploy every necessary resource to ensure a swift, transparent, and thorough investigation into the murder, insisting that the perpetrators must be brought to justice without delay.

The Forum further demanded accountability and transparency from security agencies, stressing that Princess’ grieving family, the legal community, and society at large deserve clear answers.

While mourning the loss, the NBAWF urged Nigerians to honour Princess Meadrixt Chigbo’s memory not only with tears, but with a renewed commitment to ending violence against women and supporting one another in the face of insecurity.

“We stand united in grief, demanding justice, and praying for strength for her family,” the statement concluded.
