NBA-SPIDEL Opens 2026 Membership, Calls Lawyers to Drive Public Interest and Development Law Reforms

NBA-SPIDEL: The Nigerian Bar Association – Section on Public Interest and Development Law (NBA-SPIDEL) has formally opened its 2026 membership registration, calling on lawyers across Nigeria to actively participate in advancing public interest litigation, governance reforms, and development-focused legal advocacy.

Under the leadership of Uju Agomoh, PhD, NBA-SPIDEL is positioning itself as a results-driven platform committed to innovation, practical legal solutions, measurable impact, and sustainable reform in Nigeria’s justice and governance landscape.

In a statement announcing the opening of membership, the Section described SPIDEL as more than a professional body, but a strategic hub for lawyers dedicated to strengthening accountability, ethical governance, and public confidence in institutions through the law.

According to the Section, members of NBA-SPIDEL will benefit from active participation in public interest and development law initiatives, opportunities to influence progressive policy and legal reforms, and eligibility to serve on the Section’s Committees in line with Article V(a) of the Uniform Bye-Laws for NBA Sections.

Membership also provides priority access to specialised webinars and masterclasses with complimentary Continuing Professional Development (CPD) points, as well as exclusive discounts on conferences, trainings, and flagship SPIDEL programmes.

The Section emphasised that the 2026 membership drive is an open invitation to lawyers at all stages of practice to lend their expertise to a collective effort aimed at building a more just, accountable, and equitable society.

The membership payment portal opened on 1 January 2026, with annual dues structured as follows:

SPIDEL 2026 Annual Dues

  • 1–5 years post-call – as applicable
  • 6–10 years post-call – ₦10,000
  • 11–20 years post-call – ₦15,000
  • 21 years post-call and above – ₦20,000
  • Senior Advocates of Nigeria (SAN) – ₦30,000
  • Membership of an additional Committee – ₦5,000

Interested lawyers are encouraged to complete their registration via the official SPIDEL portal.
