SOKOTO, NIGERIA – The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Sokoto Branch, has extended its congratulations to the nation on the occasion of Nigeria’s 65th Independence Anniversary, while using the moment for a powerful call to action on justice and good governance.

In a statement released today, the Branch Chairman, Rashidat Mohammed, Esq., emphasized that true independence is measured not just by freedom from colonial rule, but by the continuous journey toward establishing justice, equality, unity, and good governance for all citizens.

“This day reminds us of the sacrifices of our founding fathers, whose vision, courage, and resilience laid the foundation for the Nigeria we all cherish,” the Chairman stated.

The Bar’s Renewed Resolve

The message highlighted the legal profession’s critical role in the country’s democratic project. The Sokoto Bar unequivocally reaffirmed its commitment to:

  • The promotion of the rule of law.
  • The defense of human rights.
  • The strengthening of democratic institutions.

“We recognize that a truly independent nation thrives when justice is accessible, corruption is confronted, and the dignity of every citizen is respected,” the statement read, aligning the Bar’s mandate with the fundamental needs of the nation.
