The Chairman of the NBA Remuneration Committee, Emeka Obegolu, SAN, has extended warm congratulations to the Nigerian Bar Association Okehi Branch (Anchor Bar) as it marks its 2025 Annual Law Week, a thought-provoking gathering anchored on the branch’s carefully chosen theme.
The NBA Okehi Law Week theme, centred on strengthening the legal profession through deeper reflection, professional responsibility, and strategic engagement, aligns seamlessly with the ongoing national conversations within the Bar on the future of legal practice and the standards that define it.
In his goodwill message, Emeka Obegolu, SAN, praised the Anchor Bar for sustaining a tradition of intellectual engagement and using its Law Week to confront contemporary challenges affecting the legal profession. He noted that the branch’s thematic focus demonstrates a strong commitment to growth, discipline, and innovation values essential for the Nigerian Bar in this defining moment.
He, who has been at the forefront of advancing improved professional standards through the Legal Practitioners Remuneration Order (LPRO) 2023, commended the branch for its responsiveness and willingness to engage constructively with reforms shaping the welfare and future of lawyers.

He emphasized that the Remuneration Order remains one of the most significant regulatory interventions in recent years, and its effective enforcement requires active participation from all branches of the Bar.
Obegolu urged the Anchor Bar to continue sensitising its members, encouraging them to key into ongoing nationwide enlightenment efforts so that no lawyer is left behind in understanding their rights, obligations, and the improved earning framework designed to protect the dignity of legal practice.
He highlighted that the success of these reforms depends largely on strong branches like Okehi, branches that are intentional about growth, conscious of their role in shaping the direction of the NBA, and committed to empowering their members.
Obegolu further encouraged the branch to continue nurturing leadership, strengthening mentorship, and supporting members aspiring to take up broader responsibilities within the Association. According to him, the Bar needs courageous, disciplined, and service-driven voices at every level, and platforms such as the Annual Law Week are an important reminder of the collective responsibility to raise and support such leaders.
He expressed confidence that with the Anchor Bar’s renewed vigour, the branch would not only continue to inspire excellence among its members but also contribute meaningfully to the broader advancement of the Nigerian Bar Association.

“NBA Okehi Branch has always shown capacity, energy, and unity of purpose,” he stated. “This Law Week is yet another testament to the branch’s commitment to building a stronger, more professional, and more future-focused Bar. As always, I stand firmly with you in the pursuit of excellence and a more dignified legal profession.”
The Anchor Bar’s 2025 Law Week continues to attract commendation across the legal community for its robust programme, reflective theme, and strong mobilisation of legal minds within and beyond the State.
