Paul Harris Ogbole, SAN, has warmly congratulated the Nigerian Bar Association Okehi Branch (Anchor Bar) as it opens its 2025 Annual Law Week, praising the branch for adopting a theme that directly confronts the realities of today’s legal landscape and the obligations resting on the shoulders of every legal practitioner.
Ogbole described the theme as “a deliberate call to reflection and responsibility,” noting that it speaks to the evolving identity of the legal profession, the intensity of modern advocacy, and the wider expectations society now places on lawyers. He emphasized that the Anchor Bar’s choice of theme reveals a branch that is not only aware of the present challenges but is actively engaging with them.
According to him, the theme captures the spirit of a profession transforming, a profession that must constantly interrogate its values, strengthen its internal discipline, and uphold the credibility that gives law its moral force. He noted that the Okehi Branch has consistently demonstrated depth and intellectual maturity, and the 2025 Law Week further confirms its commitment to shaping meaningful conversations for the Bar.
Ogbole stressed that conversations inspired by the Law Week’s theme are urgently needed across the profession. At a time when public trust, ethical responsibility, and professional standards are constantly being tested, he said the Anchor Bar is charting the right course by centering its programme on issues that define the future of legal practice.

He remarked that the theme also underscores the need for lawyers to reassess their professional identity, to ensure that the values of honour, courage, clarity of thought, and service remain at the heart of what the Bar represents. He encouraged senior and young lawyers to approach the Law Week not merely as an annual tradition but as an opportunity for renewed understanding, deliberate learning, and a recommitment to excellence.
Ogbole noted that this type of engagement is how strong branches prepare their members for greater responsibilities at the local and national levels of the Association. He added that the lessons from this year’s theme will help shape a more confident, principled, and forward-looking legal community in Okehi.
He also highlighted that the ongoing nationwide awareness on the Legal Practitioners Remuneration Order (LPRO) 2023 connects strongly with the values highlighted in the Law Week theme. While the Law Week focuses on the professional ideals that should drive legal practice, the Remuneration Order reinforces the structural foundation that protects the dignity of the legal profession.
He encouraged the Anchor Bar to continue sensitising its members so they remain informed, empowered, and aligned with reforms that strengthen the practice of law.
Ogbole concluded by expressing confidence that NBA Okehi Branch will continue to embody the values reflected in its chosen theme , values that point towards a disciplined profession and a Bar prepared for the future.

The 2025 Law Week of the Anchor Bar continues to draw commendations for its insightful theme, strategic programming, and its role in deepening professional reflection within Kogi State and the wider Nigerian Bar Association.
