The 2025 Law Week of the NBA Okehi Branch presents a timely and well-considered theme, one that resonates deeply with the present realities of legal practice. Barth Aniche Okoye, Immediate Past Publicity Secretary of the Eastern Bar Forum, commends the Anchor Bar for curating a discourse that invites practitioners to re-examine their professional ethos and recommit to the discipline, clarity, and responsibility that must define the modern Nigerian lawyer.
Okoye notes that the chosen theme demonstrates a branch that is intentional about growth and conscious of its role in shaping the character of the Bar. In his view, it reflects the maturity of a legal community that understands the need for introspection, especially in a period where the profession continues to navigate rapid institutional, ethical, and societal demands.
He further observes that the ongoing enlightenment on the Legal Practitioners Remuneration Order (LPRO) 2023 complements the Law Week’s intellectual direction. While the theme addresses the ideals that ground the profession, the Remuneration Order reinforces the structural safeguards that protect the worth and dignity of legal services. For Okoye, these two conversations, one reflective, the other regulatory- form a necessary synergy for a stronger, more accountable Bar.
He encourages members of the Okehi Branch to take full advantage of this year’s Law Week: to engage deeply, participate actively, and carry forward the insights that emerge from its deliberations. According to him, branches that embrace both introspection and reform are the ones best positioned to shape future leadership and advance the collective interest of the Nigerian Bar.

In his words, the Anchor Bar has once again set a thoughtful tone — a tone that aligns with the aspirations of a profession committed to relevance, credibility, and excellence.
