NBA AGC 2025: Early Bird Registration Extended! Don't Miss Out on

Purpose of the visits:

  1. To identify the peculiarities and challenges faced by in-house and government counsel in their day-to-day operations (with their employers and NBA).
  2. To encourage in-house and government counsel at various levels across the branch to participate actively in NBA matters/activities.
  3. To ensure that in-house and government counsel stay updated with the activities of the NBA.
  4. To foster greater collaboration between the in-house and government counsel and NBA Lagos.
  5. To underscore the NBA Lagos’ commitment to the interests of the in-house and government counsel.

During the visits, we engaged in productive discussions with top legal executives of the organisations, exchanging perspectives and identifying key challenges faced by their legal teams.

STEP-BY-STEP GUIDE TO APPLYING FOR NBA STAMP AND SEAL ONLINE

Some of the key areas of concern include:

  1. Expiry date & delay of stamp and seal.
  2. Non-recognition of in-house counsel who have distinguished themselves in their chosen fields.
  3. Discrimination of the NBA against in-house and government counsel for elective positions.
  4. Overprotectionism by the NBA of the profession.
  5. The lack of adequate regulation of legal practitioners is affecting the general reputation of the profession.

We shall continue our engagement with these key stakeholders of the NBA to ensure a well-rounded understanding of the challenges faced by in-house and government counsel. This will enable the NBA to take meaningful steps toward addressing their concerns and strengthening their role within the Association.

The NBA Lagos in-house and government counsel forum remains committed to advocating for a more inclusive and supportive NBA for all legal practitioners.
