Abuja, Nigeria – June 18, 2025
The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Gwagwalada Branch, has strongly condemned the brutal assault and unlawful detention of one of its members, Mr Ajiki John Boluwaji, by a group of assailants allegedly acting on the instructions of Mr Williams Raymond, located at Suite B18–B19, 2nd Floor, Iyemi Plaza, Gudu Junction, Abuja.
The disturbing incident reportedly occurred on Tuesday, June 17, 2025, between 12:00 pm and 3:00 pm at Gudu Market Junction in the Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), Federal Capital Territory.
According to reports, Mr Boluwaji had gone to serve a client’s demand letter when he was unlawfully detained, harassed, and physically assaulted by the said individuals.
His phone was allegedly seized, and he was denied any opportunity to call for help—until some police officers on patrol intervened and rescued him from further harm.

Reacting to the incident, the Chairman of the NBA Gwagwalada Branch, Owhor Clever, Esq., expressed grave concern and reaffirmed the Branch’s commitment to protecting the rights and safety of its members. He described the attack as a direct affront on the legal profession and a gross violation of Mr. Boluwaji’s fundamental rights.
“The NBA Gwagwalada Branch will ensure that justice is served and that such barbaric acts do not go unpunished. “No legal practitioner should be subjected to harassment, intimidation, or violence in the course of performing professional duties,” the Chairman stated.
The Branch further appealed to its members and the general public to remain calm, assuring them that every necessary legal step is being taken to ensure that the perpetrators are brought to book and that Mr Boluwaji receives the justice he deserves.
Signed:
John Oluwasina Adewakun, Esq.
Secretary, NBA Gwagwalada Branch
