Port Harcourt came alive in spectacular fashion on Saturday morning as thousands of lawyers attending the 2026 Nigerian Bar Association Annual General Conference stepped out for the much-anticipated Health Walk.
The colourful event transformed the Garden City into a vibrant celebration of wellness, unity and professional camaraderie.
At exactly 6:00 a.m., participants converged at the Liberation Stadium, Elekahia, where the morning’s activities commenced before the procession moved through major roads in Port Harcourt amid cheers from residents and motorists.
The Health Walk formed part of the official programme of the NBA’s 66th Annual General Conference, themed “Beyond Limits.”
NBA Leaders Head Procession
Leading the walk were the President of the Nigerian Bar Association, Mazi Afam Osigwe, SAN, and the Chairman of the Annual General Conference Planning Committee, Abdul Mohammed, SAN.
Their participation set the tone for an event that went beyond physical exercise to become a powerful statement on healthy living, professional solidarity and the human side of legal practice.
The atmosphere remained electric throughout the exercise.
Security personnel and motorcycle riders provided an orderly escort along the route, enabling participants to enjoy a safe and seamless experience.
Music echoed through the streets as energetic DJs kept lawyers dancing, singing and moving throughout the walk.
Smiles replaced fatigue, strangers became friends and colleagues connected beyond the courtroom in an atmosphere filled with laughter and excitement.
Wellness Village Delights Lawyers
Returning to the Liberation Stadium did not mark the end of the experience.
Instead, participants were welcomed into a lively wellness village designed to refresh the body and mind.
Aerobics sessions attracted enthusiastic participation as lawyers stretched, danced and exercised under the guidance of fitness instructors.
Professional massage sessions also provided participants with an opportunity to relax and ease tired muscles after the road walk.
Others settled into friendly games of ludo and scrabble, turning the morning into a festival of recreation, networking and shared experiences.
Refreshing coconut juice flowed freely as participants mingled, held conversations and enjoyed the atmosphere created by the Conference Planning Committee.
The combination of fitness, music, entertainment, games and relaxation left many delegates describing the Health Walk as one of the most memorable experiences of the Conference.
Wellness Beyond the Courtroom
For many participants, the Health Walk reinforced the message that professional excellence must be accompanied by personal wellbeing.
It highlighted the importance of balancing the demands of legal practice with physical fitness, mental relaxation and meaningful social interaction.
