The Kano State Shariah Police, Hisbah Board, has declared Auwalu Sankara, the suspended Jigawa State Commissioner for Special Duties, wanted over allegations of adultery. This declaration follows his failure to attend a reconciliation meeting regarding the accusations against him.
The Commandant General of the Hisbah Board, Sheik Aminu Ibrahim Daurawa, informed journalists that Sankara and other family members were invited for an out-of-court settlement, which Sankara did not attend. As a result, the Board has escalated the matter to a Shariah court.
The Hisbah confirmed that Sankara was arrested through intelligence tracking after receiving multiple complaints of his alleged illicit activities with a married woman. The arrest was initiated following a complaint by Nasiru Bulama, the woman’s husband. Bulama accused Sankara of engaging in an affair with his wife, Tasleem Baba Nabegu, who is the mother of his two children.
Bulama had filed complaints with the Kano State Police Command, the Department of State Services (DSS), and the Hisbah Board, alleging Sankara’s involvement in inappropriate relations with his wife.
