Timileyin Ajayi, a 32-year-old gospel singer, has been remanded in custody at the Nasarawa State Police Command in Lafia following his confession to the gruesome murder of Salome Eleoja Adaidu, a 24-year-old National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) member employed at Nicon Insurance in Abuja.
The incident reportedly took place at Ajayi’s residence in the Papalana axis of New Karshi, Karu Local Government Area, Nasarawa State. Salome had visited Ajayi when the tragic events unfolded.

Ajayi’s arrest came after a shocking discovery at a church service in Orozo, Abuja, where he was apprehended by congregants carrying a sack containing the severed head of a woman he later identified as his girlfriend.
A concerned churchgoer had intercepted Ajayi and discovered the contents of the sack, raising alarm and prompting others to detain him until police arrived.
Ajayi’s Confession
In an interview, Ajayi admitted to the murder, citing frustrations over their relationship and allegations of infidelity as his motives. He claimed the act was unplanned, stating:
“I killed her because we don’t have each other all the time. It’s not something I planned. I found chats on her phone with other guys. That was why I decided.”
When asked about remorse, Ajayi shockingly declared he had none, explaining:
“I don’t have any regrets because life is reciprocal… we were actually compatible.”
Family’s Reaction and Investigation Hurdles
The victim’s elder sister, Patience Adaidu, refuted claims of a romantic relationship between Salome and Ajayi, stating that the family had no prior knowledge of the suspect. She expressed frustration over the lack of communication from the Orozo Police Station, where the case was initially lodged, and raised concerns about a potential transfer to Nasarawa State.
Patience called for transparency and justice, emphasizing that her sister had no connection with Ajayi beyond this horrific incident.
