It gives me great pleasure to extend warm greetings to the Governing Council and the entire membership of the Eastern Bar Forum (EBF) on the occasion of your First Quarterly Meeting for the year 2026, holding in Umuahia, Abia State, God’s Own State.
The Eastern Bar Forum occupies a distinguished place in the institutional history of the Nigerian Bar. Conceived as a platform for intellectual engagement, professional development, and regional cohesion, the Forum has, over the years, evolved into a respected voice within the Bar, contributing meaningfully to legal discourse, professional ethics, mentorship, and unity among practitioners of the Old Eastern Region and beyond.
At a time when the legal profession continues to confront complex challenges, ranging from professional discipline and access to justice to institutional reform and capacity development, the role of platforms such as the Eastern Bar Forum has never been more critical.
Through its programmes, policy conversations, and culture of collegiality, the Forum continues to strengthen professional bonds, nurture emerging leaders, and promote standards that sustain the integrity and relevance of our noble profession.

This quarterly meeting once again reflects the Forum’s enduring commitment to excellence, collaboration, and progressive engagement. I commend the leadership of the Eastern Bar Forum for sustaining a tradition of purposeful dialogue, mentorship, knowledge sharing, and constructive interaction, all of which remain indispensable to navigating the evolving landscape of law and justice in Nigeria.
As you deliberate, I am confident that your discussions will be fruitful, your resolutions will be impactful, and your fellowship will be enriching. May this gathering further consolidate unity within the Bar, inspire renewed professional dedication, and advance the collective aspiration of a stronger, more ethical, and more responsive legal profession.
I wish all participants a successful meeting, a pleasant stay in Umuahia, and safe journeys to and from your various jurisdictions.
With highest regards.
