In a continued effort to promote gender equality and end gender-based violence (GBV), the International Federation of Women Lawyers (FIDA) Nigeria, with the support of the Ford Foundation, successfully hosted the 2nd Bi-Annual Shared Learning Forum for Men Promoting Gender Justice. The impactful event took place last week in Jos, Plateau State.
Held at the Villa Grand Hotel, the forum convened male advocates from diverse backgrounds—community leaders, activists, professionals, and civil society actors—united in their commitment to advancing gender justice and challenging harmful gender norms.
The program featured dynamic panel sessions on key themes such as Mobilizing Male Voices for GBV Prevention and Sustaining Male Advocacy for Gender Justice. These discussions encouraged meaningful reflection and fostered an exchange of practical strategies for change.
A standout highlight of the forum was the presentation of community success stories, showcasing real-life examples of male-led interventions that have positively impacted GBV prevention at the grassroots level.
According to FIDA Nigeria, the forum was designed to provide a collaborative platform for shared learning, strengthen the capacity of male allies, and deepen their involvement in the fight for justice, equality, and safer communities for all.
“Creating inclusive spaces where men can learn, engage, and lead advocacy efforts is vital for long-term social transformation,” FIDA Nigeria emphasized.
FIDA Nigeria reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to building a just society where every voice—particularly those of male allies—is empowered to drive meaningful change.
