FIDA Abuja Advocates for Girls' Rights on Naija Info 95.1 FM

They discussed the theme “Empowering Visionary Girls, Protecting Their Future,” with a focus on the effective implementation of the Child Rights Act 2003 and the Violence Against Persons (Prohibition) Act 2015 (VAPP Act).

During the discussion, the FIDA representatives emphasized the critical role these laws play in safeguarding the rights and future of the girl child. They highlighted:

  • The effectiveness of the Child Rights Act and VAPP Act in providing protection for girls.
  • The importance of government support in ensuring access to education for the girl child.
  • The roles that stakeholders play in promoting and upholding the rights of young girls.
  • The challenges in implementing these laws include compromised family members in cases of sexual offences and a lack of widespread awareness.

FIDA Nigeria Partnership

They further elaborated on FIDA Abuja’s ongoing efforts to raise awareness and advocate for the implementation of these laws. Both representatives stressed the importance of collective efforts to empower and protect the future of the girl child.

The discussion was a part of FIDA Abuja’s continued advocacy to ensure that girls in Nigeria are protected and given the opportunity to reach their full potential.
