The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has revealed the identity of a popular crossdresser, known as ‘Abuja Area Mama,’ who was tragically murdered earlier this month in Abuja.

The lifeless body of the deceased was discovered on August 8 along the Katampe-Mabushi Expressway. Following the discovery, the FCT Police immediately launched an investigation to uncover the circumstances surrounding the incident.

In an official statement released on Tuesday, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Josephine Adeh, disclosed that the deceased has been identified as 33-year-old Ifeanyi Chukwu-Agah Benedict. Hailing from Afikpo North Local Government Area of Ebonyi State, Ifeanyi was residing in Dapé, located in the Karmo Area of Abuja, before his untimely death.

Adeh further revealed that Ifeanyi’s family has been contacted and is currently cooperating with the police to provide crucial information that may assist in the ongoing investigation.

The murder of Ifeanyi Chukwu-Agah Benedict is a serious criminal offense under Nigerian law. Under the Nigerian Criminal Code, murder is defined as the unlawful killing of another person with intent or recklessness as to causing death. The act is punishable under Section 319 of the Criminal Code with the death penalty or life imprisonment.

In this context, the perpetrators of the murder, once identified and apprehended, will be charged with murder, a capital offense in Nigeria, reflecting the gravity of taking another’s life. The ongoing police investigation will be crucial in bringing the culprits to justice.
