The Chairman of the Nigerian Bar Association Section on Public Interest and Development Law (NBA-SPIDEL) 2026 Annual Conference Planning Committee, Sir Ejike Ezenwa, SAN, FCArb, has sponsored 10 young lawyers from the NBA Onitsha Branch to participate in the forthcoming conference in Umuahia, Abia State.
The sponsorship covers the beneficiaries’ conference registration fees and accommodation, removing two significant financial barriers that often prevent young practitioners from participating in major professional gatherings.
The gesture followed a courtesy visit by the Executive Committee of the Young Lawyers Forum, NBA Onitsha Branch, during which the young practitioners engaged the senior lawyer on the importance of their participation in the conference and explored possible avenues of support.
According to the Forum’s Social Secretary, F. N. Ofoegbu, Esq., Ezenwa graciously offered to sponsor 10 members and subsequently ensured that their registration was completed.
The Young Lawyers Forum expressed appreciation for the intervention, describing it as a meaningful contribution to the professional development of its members and an expression of confidence in the next generation of legal practitioners.
The 2026 NBA-SPIDEL Conference is scheduled for November 9–13 at the International Conference Centre, Umuahia, under the theme, In Public Interest: Advancing Justice, Democracy and Development.
The conference will bring together senior advocates, judges, academics, policymakers, human rights activists and other stakeholders to examine critical issues affecting justice, democracy and development.
Ezenwa’s intervention provides a practical example of how senior members of the Bar can support younger colleagues through financial assistance, professional exposure and access to opportunities for learning and networking.
