The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has expressed outrage over online support for Dr. Joshua Chukwubueze Ikechukwu, the suspect in the fatal shooting of EFCC operative Aminu Sahabi Salisu during a raid in Awka, Anambra State.
The EFCC refuted social media narratives justifying the act, labeling them as irresponsible and harmful.

The EFCC mourned the loss of Aminu Sahabi Salisu, killed on January 17, 2025, while executing a raid targeting internet fraudsters.
The suspect, identified as Joshua Ikechukwu, a medical doctor allegedly involved in cybercrime, reportedly fired on operatives after observing their approach via CCTV.
Recovered items include laptops, iPads, and suspicious medical coding devices, pointing to fraudulent activities. The EFCC emphasized the rise in violent tendencies among fraudsters, warning the public against downplaying their societal impact.

Despite being in police custody, the Commission pledged to prosecute Ikechukwu for his crimes. They urged Nigerians to support efforts in curbing internet fraud and its associated dangers.
The EFCC calls for justice for its slain officer and a unified stance against internet fraud and violence. It stresses the importance of public vigilance and law enforcement collaboration in combating these growing threats.
