EDO: Shaibu's Alleged Plan to Invade Govt House

The Edo State Government has raised a serious alarm regarding Comrade Philip Shaibu, the reinstated deputy governor. He reportedly plans to invade the Edo State Government House on Monday, September 30, to enforce his purported reinstatement.

This warning follows a stay of execution appeal filed to challenge Justice J. K. Omotosho’s ruling on Shaibu’s reinstatement. In a statement issued late Saturday, Crusoe Osagie, Special Adviser to the Edo State Government, called the Inspector General of Police and the public to intervene and prevent Shaibu’s alleged “devious plot.”

Osagie expressed concern that such an action could lead to chaos and recalled a previous incident involving Shaibu, during which a police officer tragically lost their life.

“We want to draw the attention of the Inspector General of Police to the intelligence we have gathered regarding a planned move by the erstwhile Deputy Governor, Comrade Philip Shaibu, to forcefully enter the Edo State Government House to enforce the ruling of Justice J. K. Omotosho purportedly,” Osagie stated.

He emphasized that the stay of execution is still pending in the Court of Appeal and urged law enforcement to act swiftly to avoid potential anarchy in the state. The government’s legal team has also communicated with the IGP and other relevant stakeholders, stressing the need to maintain peace while the case is under judicial consideration.

Osagie concluded by highlighting that Shaibu’s attempt to force his way into the Government House could disrupt the peace and escalate tensions across Edo State.
