The Delta State Police Command has arrested a former councillor of Emu-Uno in Kwale LGA, Ndubisi Okechukwu, over alleged involvement in a kidnapping scheme. The arrest was confirmed on October 21, 2024, by Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe.

SP Edafe disclosed that the Divisional Police Officer of Abbi Division, CSP Florence Onum, acted on intelligence suggesting a plan to abduct a prominent individual from the Abbi community. “Acting on this intelligence, the DPO Kwale and operatives of the Division embarked on a discreet investigation, and on 21/10/2024, at about 1900hrs, one Hon. Ndubisi Okechukwu, a two-time councillor in Emu-Uno, Kwale, was arrested,” Edafe stated.

The suspect allegedly revealed during questioning that he had been suspended as a councillor. He also reportedly admitted that his plan was to kidnap a woman known to have close ties with the local government chairman, hoping the ransom payment would come from local government funds. Okechukwu remains in police custody as the investigation continues.
