The theme, described by many as timely and thought-provoking, interrogates Nigeria’s democratic progress in light of the unfulfilled socio-economic aspirations outlined in Chapter 2 of the Constitution — the Fundamental Objectives and Directive Principles of State Policy.

In his message, Aniche, who currently serves as the Publicity Secretary of the Eastern Bar Forum, commended the Barnawa Branch for “consistently setting the pace in intellectual discourse and advocacy for legal reform.”

He noted that the Branch’s deliberate focus on this long-neglected section of the Constitution reflects “a bold step toward national awakening and meaningful constitutional review.”

Quoting the late Chief Obafemi Awolowo, he remarked: “A constitution is not just a document of government; it is the mirror of the nation’s soul.”

He encouraged lawyers and policymakers alike to rekindle the national conversation around the justiciability and implementation of the provisions in Chapter 2, which are aimed at ensuring social justice, education, healthcare, and economic empowerment for all Nigerians.
