Bandits Kill Katsina Miyetti Allah Chairman, Kidnap His Family

The Katsina State Chairman of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN), Alhaji Surajo Ahmed, was tragically killed by suspected bandits who stormed his home in Mai Rana, Kusada Local Government Area, on Sunday night.

The assailants, striking at around 10 pm, also abducted his two wives and daughter, according to MACBAN Nationals President, Alhaji Baba Usman Ngelzarma.

MACBAN has reached out to police and security agencies, urging them to investigate the attack and work towards the safe release of the kidnapped family members.

“The incident happened yesterday around 10 pm in the night. We have contacted police and other security bodies for intervention,” Ngelzarma confirmed.

Efforts to obtain an official statement from the Katsina State Police Command were unsuccessful, as the Police Public Relations Officer, Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu, did not respond to inquiries.

This incident adds to ongoing security concerns in northern Nigeria, where communities have faced repeated bandit attacks, kidnappings, and displacement.

In a related development last year, Fulani groups reported the loss of 350 members and 834 cattle in Plateau State between October 2023 and January 2024. These groups highlighted the destruction of over 115 villages and displacement of communities across several districts in the region.

Authorities and stakeholders continue to call for enhanced security measures to address these escalating challenges.
