Zamfara State Governor, Dauda Lawal, stated on Monday that the persistent attacks led by the notorious and wanted bandit leader, Bello Turji, will soon come to an end. Lawal expressed confidence that Turji will either be apprehended or eliminated in the near future.
Speaking during an interview on Channels Television, the governor said, “It’s only a matter of time. With the measures in place and the collaboration between the state government, the Federal Government, and security agencies, I believe Turji will be killed very soon.”
The governor’s remarks follow the recent success of military operations against bandits, including the killing of wanted bandit leader, Halilu Sububu, who had terrorized Zamfara, Sokoto, and other parts of the North-West. Sububu and over 30 other bandits were killed last week.
While Governor Lawal acknowledged that eliminating Turji will not completely end banditry in Zamfara, he is confident that it will significantly reduce the problem. He praised the military’s efforts and emphasized the importance of maintaining pressure.
“If we can sustain this military pressure for the next two weeks to a month, I believe the situation with banditry will change dramatically,” he added.
