Ajuluchukwu Eze Celebrates Abuja Branch Members Elevated to SAN Rank

October 12, 2026 — Ajuluchukwu Eze has congratulated members of the Nigerian Bar Association, Abuja Branch (Unity Bar) who were formally sworn in today as Senior Advocates of Nigeria, SANs, describing their elevation as a major professional milestone and a source of pride to the Branch.

The new silks were among 68 legal practitioners formally admitted into the Inner Bar by the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun, at the Supreme Court Complex in Abuja as part of activities marking the commencement of the 2026/2027 Legal Year. Of the 68 conferees, 67 were elevated under the advocacy category, while one was admitted on the strength of academic distinction.

In his goodwill message, Eze said the achievement reflects years of perseverance, professional excellence and commitment to legal practice.

“It is with immense pride and joy that I congratulate our colleagues from the NBA Abuja Branch, the Unity Bar, who have been sworn in to the esteemed rank of Senior Advocate of Nigeria.”

He said the elevation was not only a personal achievement for each conferee, but also a moment of honour for the Abuja Branch.

“Your dedication and hard work have brought you to this remarkable milestone. In achieving this coveted distinction, you have also brought great honour and pride to our Branch.”

Eze specifically celebrated the following members of the Unity Bar:

  1. Dr. James Eromosele Agbonhese, SAN
  2. Odion Peter Odia, SAN
  3. Moses Okoh Onyilokwu, SAN
  4. Okechukwu Steve Emelieze, SAN — Immediate Past Chairman, NBA Abuja Branch
  5. Adebiyi Alaba Adetosoye, SAN — Past Secretary, NBA Abuja Branch
  6. Umaru Yunusa, SAN
  7. Olujoke Enitan Aliu, SAN
  8. Darlington Nnabuike Ozurumba, SAN
  9. Mohammed Abiodun Adelodun, SAN
  10. Olamide Mojigbotoluwa Adekunle, SAN
  11. Ifeanyi Godwin Ezeuko, SAN
  12. Mohammed El-Hassan Sheriff, SAN
  13. Faruk Abdullah, SAN

The names are among those contained in the official list of the 68 lawyers approved for conferment by the Legal Practitioners’ Privileges Committee.

Eze noted that the rank of Senior Advocate of Nigeria carries with it expectations beyond prestige, including a higher standard of professional conduct, leadership and service to the legal profession.

He expressed confidence that the newly elevated Senior Advocates from the Abuja Branch would continue to distinguish themselves in practice and contribute to the growth of the Branch and the wider Nigerian Bar.

“May this distinguished achievement mark the beginning of even greater success in your legal practice. Congratulations to you all.”

The conferment ceremony itself was one of the major events of the new legal year, with the 68 successful candidates formally completing the elevation process following their earlier approval by the LPPC.

For the Unity Bar, the presence of 12 members among the new SANs gives the Branch a significant representation in this year’s conferment and adds to its growing profile within the national legal profession.

The elevation also carries symbolic value for younger lawyers within the Branch, many of whom see the rank of Senior Advocate as one of the highest professional distinctions available in legal practice.

Eze said the moment should therefore be celebrated not only as individual success, but as an affirmation of the professional values of hard work, discipline, excellence and service.
