AGC 2025: Chief Olusegun Obasanjo to Grace NBA Annual General Conference 2025 as Chairman of Opening Ceremony

The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) is delighted to announce that His Excellency, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, GCFR, former President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, will be Chairman of the Opening Ceremony at the highly anticipated NBA Annual General Conference 2025, scheduled to take place in Enugu State this August.

The Opening Ceremony will hold on Sunday, 24th August 2025, at 3:00 PM in Enugu State, Nigeria.

The official confirmation followed a warm and impactful courtesy visit to Chief Obasanjo’s residence by key NBA leaders, including the President of the Nigerian Bar Association, Mazi Afam Osigwe, SAN; the Chairman of the Annual General Conference Planning Committee (AGCPC), Chief Emeka Obegolu, SAN; the Alternate Chairman of the AGCPC, Mr. Sammie Somiari, SAN; Adebayo Ojo, SAN, former Attorney General of Oyo State; and other distinguished members of the AGCPC.

During the visit, the delegation briefed the former President on the vision, objectives, and strategic importance of this year’s Conference, themed “Stand Out, Stand Tall.”

True to his enduring statesmanship, Chief Obasanjo expressed his support for the NBA’s continuous efforts in championing national dialogue, professional growth, and legal reform — and graciously accepted the invitation to participate.

Chief Obasanjo’s presence at the 2025 NBA-AGC promises to elevate the Opening Ceremony with his depth of experience, thought leadership, and unwavering dedication to public service.

His acceptance further affirms the NBA-AGC’s status as not only the largest gathering of legal minds in Africa but also a powerful platform for shaping national and continental discourse on law and policy.

With great anticipation, the NBA looks forward to welcoming Chief Obasanjo and over 20,000 delegates from across Nigeria and beyond to Enugu — for what is set to be one of the most inspiring and impactful conferences in the Association’s history.
