ADP Presidential Ticket Dispute Moves to Court

ADP: Action Democratic Party presidential aspirant Dr. Johnson Chukwuka has sued the party and the Independent National Electoral Commission over the emergence of Abbas-Bin Aliyu as the ADP’s presidential candidate for the 2027 general election.

The action, filed at the Federal High Court in Abuja as FHC/ABJ/CS/1853/2026, challenges the validity of the party’s presidential primary conducted on May 29 and 30.

Chukwuka is asking the court to declare that the ADP failed to conduct a valid primary and to nullify the declaration and subsequent submission of Aliyu’s name to INEC.

His case alleges breaches of Sections 29, 77, 84, 86 and 88 of the Electoral Act 2026, alongside alleged non-compliance with the party’s own guidelines.

The dispute has a wider dimension. The ADP had earlier petitioned authorities over an allegedly unauthorised upload of nomination material to INEC’s portal, requesting preservation of electronic records connected with the submission.

Chukwuka now wants the court to declare him the party’s properly elected presidential candidate.

Those claims remain allegations before the Federal High Court. The court has not determined the validity of either aspirant’s position.
